Pattern of UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam

Ascending/Descending order

This is a particular style of asking questions. Here a fact is to be compared within 4 or more entities. For example literacy rate and 4 states say, UP, Bihar, Tamilnadu and Punjab. Now different combinations of these 4 states are presented. You have tick the option (a, b, c or d) which has these states arranged in correct ascending/descending order as per the question.Similarly take the factual figur of population of a state, literacy, production of a particular crop, level of industrialisation, poverty rate, urbanisation, number of districts or the number of MPs in parliament or for that matter size of a state or contribution towards export, etc. Or well it could be height of differnet peaks to be arranged in ascending order of the locations of rivers from east to south or from north to east. Now, you see any factual aspect may be asked to be arranged in ascending/descending order( Otherwise how objective questions will be prepared by the exam setters...)
