Constitutional Amendments

The Constituent assembly which drafted the original Constitution under the Chairmanship of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and which was approved on 26th November 1949 and came into effect on 26th january 1950 had originally 395 Articles and 8 schedules. Since then 92 Constitution amendments have taken place and the number of Articles and schedules have also increased. While it is not expected to rember all the Constitutional amendments, however you must be aware of the few latest amendments as wellas the few initial ones.Further, there have been certain constitutional amendments which are deemed to be important as they had either made significant changes to the constitution or have been hotly debated amongst constitutional Pundits.
